Apartheid and Post-apartheid: Realism in Post-WWII South African Literature

After the Second World War, South Africa entered the apartheid period. This paper attempts to acquaint the readers with important historical events for understanding the anti-apartheid realism in South African English literature and Afrikaans literature, by analysing the characteristics of representative writings of white writers and those of black writers. During the post-apartheid period, the central focus is the documentary literature about Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the introspection of apartheid system.
